At BC Minorities in Film and TV Society (BCMFTS), we are committed to ensuring that our website, www.filmminorities.com, is accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We believe that every individual deserves equitable access to information and experiences, and we strive to meet the standards of inclusive design.

We have designed our site in alignment with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, which outlines best practices for accessibility in digital environments. Our goal is to ensure that users with diverse abilities can enjoy seamless navigation, understanding, and interaction on our site.

To achieve this, we have implemented the following measures:

  • Used Wix's Accessibility Wizard to identify and resolve accessibility barriers

  • Defined logical page structure and clear content order

  • Added alternative (alt) text to all relevant images

  • Set consistent heading hierarchies across all pages

  • Chosen accessible color combinations with sufficient contrast

  • Minimized the use of motion and animations

  • Enabled keyboard navigation throughout the site

  • Ensured PDFs and media files are accessible

  • Added closed captioning and/or transcripts where available

Some pages on our website include embedded or linked content from third parties such as Vimeo or Google Docs. While we strive to ensure accessibility across all content, these external services may not fully comply with our accessibility standards. Affected pages may include:

Physical Accessibility
BCMFTS operates primarily as a remote-based organization; however, when we host physical events or workshops, we prioritize booking accessible venues that include:

  • Wheelchair access and ramps

  • Accessible washrooms

  • Proximity to public transit

  • Elevators where applicable

  • Support staff on site to assist guests with disabilities
